First-Year

Who do I contact if I have concerns about my application and/or transcripts?

You can contact your assigned enrollment counselor for assistance.

How do I know if I’m considered a first-year student or transfer student?

You are considered a first-year student if you will soon graduate high school, you have graduated, or you have a GED and have not enrolled in college since graduating or completed less than 12 college credits post high school. You are considered a transfer student if you have attended other colleges or universities, including community colleges, and have completed 12 or more transferable credits since graduating high school.

Where do I find my academic advisor’s contact information?

You can visit the Advising Resource Center at advising.arizona.edu, and use the Directory to search for advisors by Major or College.

How do I complete my enrollment?

Once you have been admitted and obtained your Student ID number and PIN, you will create a NetID, password and 2-factor authentication. Your NetID will also be your university email account. Please wait 3 to 4 hours after creating your NetID before logging into Outlook email (longer for night or weekend NetID creation). You will then gain access to your personalized checklist for enrollment and can begin completing steps. Go to the Next Steps Center to complete your UofA enrollment by paying your Enrollment Fee to secure your spot.

Can I defer my admission to a future term?

There is a process and deadline by which an undergraduate student may defer their admission. Deferring admission maintains any scholarship offers to the future term.

To defer your admission please follow these steps:

  • Verify the deferral deadline has not passed for your admit term
  • Log into the Next Steps Center to pay the $450 enrollment fee to accept your offer of admission.
  • Request your form I-20 or immigration document through MyGlobal
  • Log into Future Wildcat
  • Click on the tab, Defer your Admission
  • Scroll down and choose the Defer Main Campus Admission to a future term

Once you've completed the Deferral Request Form, please allow up to 10 business days for processing. Please note if a student enrolls in or completes coursework at another institution, either within or outside the United States, their offer will be revoked, and they must reapply for admission to the University of Arizona.

What resources are there for parents and family members of University of Arizona students?

As the parent or family member of a University of Arizona student, you are a valued member of the Wildcat community, too. We encourage you to get involved through opportunities available through our Parent & Family Programs.

Are students required to purchase a meal plan?

First-time, first-year students living in the residence halls must purchase a Swipe Meal Plan. All residents of Honors Village, regardless of class standing, must purchase a Swipe Meal Plan. Students living off-campus and upper-classmen may select from any of the plans we offer, many off-campus students choose one of our debit-style Meal Plans. For more information, view the Meal Plan FAQs.

I was admitted to the University of Arizona. What do I do next?

Undergraduate Students: There are a few things you need to do to officially become an Arizona Wildcat at our main campus in Tucson, Arizona. All of your remaining action items, like paying your enrollment fee and signing up for orientation, can be found in your Next Steps Center.

Graduate Students: Follow these steps to accept your admission:

  • Login to GradApp.
  • Choose your application using the "List My Application(s)" link.
  • Accept your admission in the Next Steps box.
  • View/Download your Certificate of Admission, PIN, and informational Welcome letter.

Is there an appeal process for a denied student?

Unfortunately, no. Students who were denied admission are invited to apply again for a future term.

When should I apply?

Fall applicants who submit and complete their application by the Early Action deadline of November 1 will receive priority consideration for admission, merit aid, and, if interested, admission to the W.A. Franke Honors College.

Fall applications submitted after November 1 will move to a Regular Decision timeline. Regular Decisions are released in batches on a space-available basis during the spring, following the release of Early Action decisions.

If you are applying for a spring start, we encourage you to check with your regional recruiter for details on timelines.
